Mad River Glen, in summer

My friend and roommate invited us to stay at his ski lodge for a weekend, and I got to see a side of this ski area that few people do: in 80-degree weather, among fields of wildflowers.

The trail to the top winds its way up the easiest ski trail.
This is, of course, the legendary single chair.

A happy pig at Lareau Farm.

Spring in Troy

The Rensselaer campus and the surrounding region truly come back to life in April and May after the long winter. The campus fills with cherry blossoms and bright green buds for a month. Outdoor cats leave their frat houses to say hello. I found the time to snap a few photos here and there:

RPI Student Union under blossoming trees.
The local wildlife isn’t shy.
’86 Field after a fresh cut.
Sage Labs, home of the school of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, at a quiet time of day.
Green building, home of the school of architecture, after dusk.
I’ve almost tripped over this guy twice while walking in the evening.

Hello, world!

This is the beginning of my new blog. If you read it, you will see things that I have written.

As my life becomes more complicated, and I travel farther from family and friends, I hope this will provide them a glimpse into my life now and then. At the same time, it will be a showcase of my favorite photographs, a record of my ongoing projects, and a collection of whatever random content I feel like posting. Hence the term “melange,” a motley assortment of things (and the spice from Dune which allows interstellar travel).
